Realtors Help Homebuyers with Energy Audit Rebates

BPI LEVEL 1 TRAINING WELL ATTENDED

Irvine, CA: Performance industry veterans Andrew Durben and Judy Rachel lead the three-day Level 1 training sponsored by Southern California Edison. Based in Claremont, CA, Andrew's company Home Performance Matters does home assessments and all needed energy or cosmetic improvements. Judy Rachel has multiple home performance certifications including HERS, GPR and BPI BA. She also heads Eco-Home Newtork, a non-profit directory of sustainable professionals and services. Contractors from Palm Desert to the Ventura County line took part in the examination of home performance techniques and standards based on building sciences. CBPCA offers Levels 2-4 in following weeks. BPI BA training is part of Energy Upgrade California's initiative.

Attention California Realtors: New 2011 Home Energy Rating System State Law

There is a new law AB1809 effective January 1, 2011. The new law AB1809, does authorize a home inspection to include, if requested by the client, a HERS energy audit. There is no mandatory disclosure requirement of home energy ratings and providing the HERS booklet to the Buyer is optional. For more information..
